So Far, So Good

It’s shaping up to be a great week in lots of ways! :-) For one, the weather is getting better. Walks for the last two days have been really nice. Today I only wore a fleece jacket and midway through the walk, I took it off. This is the first day this year that I’ve be able to be outside in a t-shirt! Woohoo!

My husband’s new job is going really well too. I guess the employee that he replaced did nothing, so everyone is absolutely thrilled that something is finally getting done. One of the first things that the principal of the school said she’d like to see happen is to have the tv taken out of what is now my husband’s office. Apparently the old head custodian just sat in there and watched tv instead of working. Can you imagine?! I can’t, and neither could my husband. He took the tv that day. Anyway, the schedule is working well too. He’s got lots more time in the afternoon now. He keeps talking about trying to lose weight, so I asked him if he wanted to join us on our walk today, but he said he’d done enough walking at work. I think that he’d rather just find some miraculous weight loss products that didn’t require exercise and eating well. Wouldn’t we all? LOL

I’m still working on Layla’s contacts and weaves. I need to get started back up on her jump work too. (Maybe next week) I’m also thinking about entering her in the Utah Sheltie Specialty in Rally the first part of May, so I guess I better dig up some sample courses and see what we need to work on. Tomorrow we are supposed to go train with my friend that had the litter of Malinois puppies. Training should be returning to normal now that she’s down to the puppies that she’s keeping for herself.

Still Not Spring

I’m trying to convince myself about trying out a new schedule starting tomorrow. I was thinking that it’d be a good idea to try to get up earlier with my husband and maybe walk the dogs first thing in the morning. The problem is that I’m not great at getting up early. Odd, really because I’m not really a night owl either. Add to that, the fact that they are forecasting more storms for tonight, tomorrow and Tues. isn’t giving me any needed motivation. I sure wish spring would come and stay. Instead we seem to be getting storms every couple of days and in between wind and just enough sun to help the weeds grow, but not enough to make it pleasant to be outside.

A couple years ago I got into a really good habit of walking the dogs everyday, regardless of the weather. We went rain, snow, wind, whatever. The dogs didn’t care and really once I got in the habit, neither did I. Since then though, I guess I’ve gotten lazy. Why is it so darn hard to get into a good habit, and so easy to slip back into the old bad ones? LOL Well, one thing is for sure. Whether I get myself out the door to walk the dogs early in the morning or not…I probably won’t be online looking for any pronexin acne cures. If the weather is really yucky, I’ll just work on my schoolwork and the dogs will have to settle for training inside again. :-)

It’s Back…Again

Here’s what greeted us this morning.  It doesn’t feel too cold though, so I think this will all be gone by this afternoon. The weird part is that I even think it’s a little pretty today. Wow! How’s that for sounding positive? Are we all sure that my husband isn’t having some influence on my thinking.  LOL

Just so you know it’s really still me here, I’m not all that excited about following through with my plans for this morning.  My friend has her basic obedience class this morning, and I told her that I’d bring a dog or two to train off the side of her field, so that I can be used as a slight distraction for her students and they can do the same for me. Sometimes it makes me think I’m crazy to have chosen dog sports as a hobby for myself.  Couldn’t I just be happy with a playstation 3 like so many other people? Then I could stay in my nice warm house, and never leave my couch. Hehe. I don’t think that’s going to happen. I wouldn’t trade a day out training with the dogs!

Now What?

This post is more to help me sort out what I need to get done today than anything. I need to bathe both Zoe and Dare this morning. Dremel nails too. I have to boarders being dropped off this morning. Then I need to go back up to my friend’s house and finish helping her clean in preparation for everyone coming in over the weekend to pick up their puppies. :-) I hadn’t planned on a second trip up there, but we just didn’t get as much done yesterday as I had hoped. Had to break into the cleaning time to take the puppies on a little short road trip to see how they handled that experience. They did great by the way! Here’s a couple pictures of the cuties.

I better stop while I’m ahead. I’ll just keep posting more and more cute puppy pictures if I don’t stop now. Anyway, after I get done up there today, I need to come back home, pack up the car for the DOCNA trial tomorrow. I wish I could say I was looking forward to it more than I am, but I think the busy week is taking it’s toll. I’m going to need to go to some Outer Banks vacation homes to recover after it’s all over. LOL Actually, I can’t say I’m not looking forward to running agility tomorrow…it’s that I’m going with a friend that doesn’t want to drive to Salt Lake tonight, so we are going to have to leave here at 4:30 am tomorrow. Plus it’s supposed to snow again. Do we all sense a theme here? Whenever I need to drive to Salt Lake, it snows. Bleh. Anyway, hopefully the roads are good for us, and I’ll have lots of fun stuff to report when we get back. :-)

Weddings, Work and Winter

I had every intention of posting before now, but I’m not really sure where this week has gone. I do know that as far as the update about the work portion of this post goes, I don’t have a whole lot of news. My husband waited all day yesterday for the possible call back for the second interview for the job he interviewed for on Friday. No calls :-( I have mixed emotions about the other interview he did on Monday. It was with Home Depot. In the first interview they said that they only offer any new employee part time work for a period of three months. That definitely isn’t enough for us to live on, so the only way it will work is if it is a small enough amount of work that it doesn’t affect the unemployment. So, of course they have called back, but so far just to check on his availability, not to confirm a job offer. Bleh. Looks like I’ll be starting into the medical coding course in the next couple weeks.

As for the wedding part of the post…we got news that both my niece and my nephew will be getting married. We haven’t received any invitations yet, but we know that my nephews wedding is the 2nd of April. My niece will most likely be married in June sometime. Hard to believe that either of them are old enough to be getting married. Crazy!

And now for the winter part of the post. Everything was drying very nicely and…we all know what I’m going to say next. We got more snow today. We’ll see if we get more overnight, but I sure hope not. I have been working with Layla and Dare out in the yard for the last few days, but I haven’t had a chance to get video. I’d like to say that I will get some soon, but I’ll just have to see. This next week is going to be insanely busy.

More of the Same Craziness

I’m sure you’re all sick of hearing my crazy ramblings that have nothing to do with the dogs. I’m pretty sick of it myself, but I can’t seem to get away from the spinning in my head lately. It’s definitely a habit that I’d like to get rid of. It’s not so bad that I like to sort through things from every possible angle and then I want to come to a decision. The part of the habit I’d like to change is that when I’m trying to sort through something, sometimes I get stuck and I can’t seem to shut my brain down. I just spin and spin and spin about it in my head. My husband, on the other hand, likes to think about things in his own time and he rarely feels the terrible pressure to come to a decision quickly. So, the longer he takes to get around to thinking about things, the more time I have alone with my crazy thoughts. As a result, the more you’ll probably hear more of the same ramblings from me. Ugh! Sorry!

So, while I wear myself out mentally running through scenarios that haven’t happened yet, and might not ever happen, he is much more productive. He is looking for work, but he’s also just catching up on things around here that need to be done, like an oil change for the car. Or looking into a tune up for the truck. Another day he worked on some cabinets for his mom. The thing I envy most, is that he has the ability to just set aside his thoughts and relax too. I soo wish I could do that. He can just watch some tv, or surf for information about electronics that he’d like to get, or read about random stuff like an Acura Integra, a car we don’t even own. LOL I can do that too, but while I’m doing it, I’m thinking about ten other things. I don’t know…I better watch out, he’ll be ready to send me to the Houston auto repair place for an overhaul on my brain. Anyway, enough rambling for now. I’ll get back to dog training stuff later on today.

Exhausted

I am just exhausted tonight. I think I’m still dragging a bit from the 3 day agility trial, followed by a trip to Cedar City the next morning to get our taxes done, and then today I took on a housecleaning job. I haven’t done housecleaning for years now, but considering the fact that my husband’s not working, I’m doing just about anything that still gives me the freedom to take care of the kennel and spend time with the dogs. Anyway, I am totally out of shape for housecleaning apparently. LOL The five hour job has just wiped me out. Course after I finished the job, I had to come home and clean all the empty kennels from the boarders that had been picked up too and I don’t think that helped anything. As I sit here typing I have to wonder if some modern office furniture would be more comfortable. That or maybe I just need to settle on the couch with the laptop. That’s always comfy. Dangerous though, since I won’t want to get back up again.

Surprise! More Snow…Lots More Snow!

We were supposed to be going to Salt Lake today to train with the dogs, but those plans have changed now! We got up to 9 inches of snow this morning and it’s still coming down. I think this might be the most snow we’ve had from one storm all year. Bleh! Just when everything had melted and the mud had dried out so we could play outside again, here we’ve got another batch of snow. LOL (Glad I resisted the urge to haul the agility equipment back out into the field)

I guess this just means that we’ll get another chance to take more pictures of the dogs playing in the snow this year. But for now, we’re staying in where it’s warm and watching from the window.

Here’s what it looks like outside at our place.

Sheltie Family Picture Outakes

So, I thought that Layla’s “wait” had come along far enough to test it out on some group pictures. I was wrong. LOL Here’s some of the outtakes.

“Did you see her drop something?”

Hmmm…wonder what I’m missing behind me?

Woops! We’ve lost someone…..LAYLA!

Wait, wait, there she is! She’s back, but not for long…

Layla says: “I’m outta here! I’ve got much better things to do than sit and wait for you to snap my picture.”

We’ve obviously got a ways to go before she’s going to make group pictures an easy task again. LOL
