We all know I’ve been griping for months about the cold and the snow. Well, last week we had a good thaw and it was a horrible muddy mess, but it finally all seemed to be close to drying out when we got hit with that storm that dumped 7 in. of new snow on us. Bleh. Well, once again, it’s warmed up enough to really get things thawing and here’s what greeted me at the front door today.

As you can see, keeping my house clean for the next little while is going to be a real task. LOL It never ceases to amaze me how dirty these two can get. But, they sure do have a good time running and playing out there, so I guess a little clean up is well worth it.
In fact it’s not really anything to complain about. It’s not something serious like if someone we knew had Mesothelioma Cancer or something. Today I’m really grateful to have what teeny tiny problems are mine. I’m going to try to keep in mind that these two muddy girls are trying to tell me that spring and warmer weather are just around the corner.

So to balance out my negative view of the weather we’re having, I thought I’d share Penny’s opinion. Penny has always LOVED the snow. As a puppy she would just bury her head in the fresh snow and run! The Penny Snowplow. LOL In more recent years she has changed her style a bit, though she still seems to really love the feel of the snow. Now she likes to roll in the snow. I got some pictures of her out after the storm yesterday, so I thought I’d share.
STEP 1: Bury the head…

STEP 2: Get the sides involved….

and the other side….

STEP 3: Prepare for the shake…

STEP 4: Shake it! Shake it! Shake it! LOL

And then you’re all set. Hope you have as much fun in the snow as Penny does!

I know you’re probably all sick of hearing me complain about the weather, but brace yourselves because you’re about to hear about it again.
Just last weekend when we went to the agility trial I was posting pictures of the dogs running on grass. Granted, it was pretty sad looking grass, and you didn’t want to kneel down because it’s wet where the snow had recently melted, but it was grass!
Yesterday, this is what I woke up to.

and this….

and this…

Before the storm was done, we had about 7 inches of really, really wet heavy snow blanketing everything. It warmed up just a bit again in the afternoon and melted part of that down into more of an icy crusted several inches.
Now…it’s snowing again! I’m really so tired of this. I just want warmer weather and no more chiseling poop out of the frozen snow/ice. Is that too much to ask? LOL Apparently it is, if you live in Utah.

Just thought I’d share some of the pictures that we took over the weekend. This was one day after the trial. There is a pretty big grassy area close by and we let the dogs play and chase the frisbee. It is so nice to see grass again. It’s supposed to storm here at home for the next three days, but I’m hoping it won’t add up to anything. It’s just finally starting to warm up a tiny bit.
I’m not sure what we did before digital cameras. I think we must have taken over a hundred pictures. It’s just so nice to be able to take as many as you like and then just see them immediately on the computer and find a few that turn out. I think I’d go into withdrawals if I had to go back to my old film camera. LOL It’s so nice with the puppies too, because I have so much better record of them growing up than I do of my older dogs. Anyway…here’s some of the pictures. Enjoy!

So, here are another set of pictures from last month that I never posted. We took a walk up on one of the mountains nearby and these were the pictures.
They all were excited to get started….

As we went further, no one had walked on the trails yet, so we had to make our own.

Eventually most of us decided that we’d let my husband make the trail and we’d just follow.

You’ll notice that the exception to that statement is Lucy. She just can’t stand to not be in front of everyone blazing her own trail. Then Layla soon decided that she was too big to waiting for someone to make a trail for her either and broke out of the formation. Here she is making the leap….

And then sinking into the deep snow. What a silly girl!

Here’s my favorite bridge on this walk….

and Dare coming back over to check on why I’m not coming…

And a little sheltie “family” picture….

And then the races as we went back to the truck. Penny was the judge, and obviously Twist got distracted at the startline. What a shocker!

Looks like Zoe is the winner, and…..Twist is still distracted. LOL

And finally the best place to be when you get home from a cold winter’s walk…

So, I got to looking and for some reason I never posted the pictures that I took of the dogs last month. I thought I had, but my memory deceived me. LOL Anyway, we had a storm that dropped about 7 inches on us, and the dogs had a blast playing in the fresh powder. It was deep enough on top of the other snow we already had that Layla was getting lost in it. Didn’t slow her down though.

It’s been a long time since I’ve tackled a project like this. I used to change things around and re-decorate and stuff a lot. In recent years the thought of doing anything hasn’t really inspired me to action. So, when I got the urge to take on the dogs’ room I thought I’d better act before I lost the motivation.
I’ve had the Sheltie’s crates (where they sleep and eat), spread somewhat helter skelter throughout the house. It really bugged me. The obsessive/compulsive side of me wanted it better organized, but I couldn’t figure out how to fit 5 crates into one room nicely. Twist already slams himself into the closed wire door about once a week trying to get to his crate quicker. LOL Plus, I’m not much more coordinated than Twist and the thought of 5 open/swinging doors in one room presents quite an obstacle course for all of us.
So…I’ve been eyeing these Pet Gear Other Door crates and I love the design of the “garage door” that folds up into the top. I finally gave in and bought them. Then I decided that the room wasn’t nice enough for the new crates, so I pulled everything out and repainted in there too.
I have to say that I’m absolutely one of the worst people for breaking in the middle of a project to take pictures, so there aren’t very many before, and during pictures. Sorry. You’ll just have to imagine that there were three mismatched wire crates under that one window one the short wall, and a canvas ex-pen for the pups along one of the other walls. I still haven’t decided whether to put it back in there or not.

Here’s my favorite picture of Dare checking out the new room. Hehe, she’s such a cutie.
I still have a bit more to finish up. I need to buy a new light fixture, get some new window shades and then finally replacing some of the old pictures on the walls with newer ones, but all in all, it’s done. Yay!!!
GOODBYE 2009…FULL SPEED AHEAD TO 2010!

Another year has come and gone. It was a year packed with lots of memories. Some I’ll cherish forever, and some I wish I could forget. LOL Looking back though, I can honestly say that I’ve learned something from all the experiences, both good and the not so good.

Dare’s six months old now. She is looking more and more like her daddy. I bathed her and took some pictures today while I had the glue cleaned out of her ears, but we’ll get them glued back down later on today. They seem to be tipping nicely.

Finally, here are the pictures of Dare’s first experience with the snow. The first four are from a couple weeks ago when we got the first snow, and the rest are from yesterday and today. Enjoy!

This one cracks me up because you can see her steamy breath as the ball drops out of her mouth.
