As things worked out, they had a volunteer willing to meet me half way in St. George to pick up the boys. The best part about that was that our friends Patti, Brutus and Tytus live in St. George and they’ve been offering to let us come try out their pool. So, we got in touch with Patti, and she was awesome about letting all of us drop in on she and Deboys last minute.

The foster boys didn’t need any special lapel pins to introduce themselves. They were immediately right at home in Patti’s gorgeous backyard, and after lunch we got a chance to watch Brutus and Tytus show off their swimming and diving skills. They are awesome!

The smaller foster boy though, decided that Tytus was his hero…

I don’t think any of us could have asked for a nicer way to send these lovely boys off to the next chapter of their lives.  Thanks to Patti and Deboys for being the perfect hosts!!!

I felt something as I walked out there, but really didn’t think much of it. I thought it might be a leaf or some mud or something. Anyway, I came back to the house and when I opened the door I thought, “the house is smelling funny.” I figured it might be because we’re running the swamp cooler a LOT right now. Well, I kicked off my shoes, went to sit down, and the smell got worse.

Then it dawned on me, I knew this smell. It was a stinkbug. Could it really be that one had crawled into my shoe and that I’d just squished it to death in my bare feet? I went and checked and sure enough…that’s exactly what I’d done. Ugh!

I guess that will teach me to not look at what I’m doing. Maybe if I had a pair of Clic EyeWear that would help too. Though I have a feeling that the next time I have to get up early, I won’t be any more likely to be aware of what I’m doing than I was today. LOL

Tomorrow we have to drive a couple hours in the other direction for a friend’s wedding. I just hate weddings. I never know what to buy, even though everyone seems to have registries and stuff now. I never find something I like and the stores are always so far away that I’d have to have the thing shipped and I worry that it won’t get here on time. Bleh, just not something I enjoy. Maybe they need some modern furniture for their new place. I bet they are just going to end up with either cash or a gift card from us though, cause I’ve procrastinated so long.

As for the boarding kennel. It’s been a juggling act this week, and today is no exception. On Wednesday I had a plethora of phone calls for boarding this weekend. I ended up having to turn a few people away. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, except for when you have 4 dogs scheduled to be dropped off by two separate clients and today…they’ve both canceled. That is really annoying. Oh well. It’s going to make it a whole lot more simple for the person having to come in tomorrow to take care of the kennel while I’m at the wedding.

I have to wonder if they heard that Twist was coming though, because as we walked along, we saw the kind of sign that might be helpful if I could manage to teach Twist to read. LOL

Even though Twist can’t read, he didn’t seem determined to try to invent some form of extreme agility today. He was perfectly content to just shove his way through sage brush in search of adventure instead. Course when you do that, you come out looking like this…

I almost forgot that I was going to take the camera to share some of the spring babies with everyone. The only problem was that the cows weren’t cooperating this afternoon. They were much further out in their field than on some of the other days, so the pictures weren’t very close up. Sorry. I still think it’s a pretty picture though. I’ll try to take some closer pictures another day.

I got to thinking how bizarre my walks must sound to everyone, but in reality, they are usually pretty ordinary.  Today we just enjoyed a nice sunny walk, though the wind still carried a really cold bite to it.  There are signs of spring starting to pop up.  The fields have more calves and lambs and foals each day. I’ll have to take the camera with me in the next day or so.

We did meet another person walking today, but it wasn’t anyone shooting their gun off the bridge either.  This was just an elderly man out getting some exercise.  He was really sweet.  He wanted to stop and visit when we met him both coming and going down the road.  He said that he’s been exercising on a machine he has at the house while the weather has been bad, but nothing is like getting out in the fresh air.  I couldn’t agree more!  Maybe if more of us were as dedicated to exercising as he is, we wouldn’t need fat burner products.

Then everyone settled into their walk, except that Penny’s nose took her into a sagebrush. Deep into the sagebrush. LOL I don’t have a clue what she was looking for.

Then Dare had to stop to pose for me at the top of the hill. I guess she was actually just watching all the other dogs waste their energy, but it was a nice pose for me with the mountains behind her.

Hmmmm….this group just looks like trouble. Watch out world!

Zoe NOT loving the water. Might have had something to do with the fact that she’d just found a disgusting dead deer to roll in and so I thought she could use an impromptu bath before the ride home.

And the walk ends much the way it began, with Layla barking at the dogs to keep going! She might be telling Raven to “put down the prevera wrinkle cream grandma, and run, run, run!” Or maybe not. LOL

Anyway, I am just taking Zoe and Dare with me this time. Dare is going to be trying to get her CGC this weekend, and I also still needed to get her microchipped. So we’re making a stop at our friends with Sheltie Rescue of Utah and chipping her this afternoon, and then we’ll head on up to the trial. I’ll try to get video of whatever I can throughout the weekend, but no promises that I’ll get it posted before I get home Monday night. No promises for Tues either, since after I get home from the trial I have to turn around and drive to Cedar City for an appointment with our accoutant to get the taxes done.

The reason for the change is that a friend of mine has talked me into using the blog to generate some extra income. In light of my husband’s layoff from work, I’m game to try just about anything, (at least for a while), that will allow me to stay home with the dogs and the kennel. Anyway, I just wanted to let the few of you that do stop by on a fairly regular basis what in the world I’m doing. LOL

Back to my reason for this post. I went to the mail and had a nice package waiting for me…(sure beats finding bills)! LOL A company called Zobo Pets had given Lindsay and Ace a collar and leash for a fun giveaway.

So, I just wanted to say thank you to both That Mutt, and to Zobo Pets for a little bright spot in my day!
