More Pictures?

If you know me, you know I love pictures of the dogs. It’s a real weakness of mine. Well, a couple months ago I saw that a photographer that I really am intrigued by was going on tour across the country and was making a stop in Utah. It’s Seth Casteel with Little Friends Photo. I just couldn’t resist contacting him and scheduling a photoshoot with the dogs. It was supposed to happen this Friday. Unfortunately, I got a phone call on Saturday from him saying that he needed to reschedule. Kind of disappointing, but now….I’m kind of grateful for the delay.

I was going to write on Dare’s blog about her consult with Chris Zink, but her blog is having some issues, so I’ll just have to catch up over there later. After talking to Chris about some of the things we’ve seen with Dare, (pacing, knocking bars etc.) she examined her and found that she has bilateral iliopsoas strain. I don’t know how or when it happened, but in hindsight it could’ve been quite a while ago. :-( I didn’t realize that she was hurt. There wasn’t any lameness and the more subtle signs, well I just didn’t realize what they were telling me. Regardless, can’t do anything about that now. All we can do is move forward. So, she recommends that we find someone that specializes in rehab and that offers cold laser therapy.

So, I guess we’ll be driving to Salt Lake a couple times a week for the next several weeks. I’m definitely not looking forward to that. Also not looking forward the cost, there sure won’t be any extra money to buy curt hitches for the truck, but that’s ok. It’s always money well spent though if it helps Dare.

So, back to the photos. I guess sometimes things work out for the best, even though you don’t realize it at the time. It’ll be good to be able to focus on rehab and getting Dare well, and then we’ll have even more fun doing the photoshoot with Seth in April.

  1. Poor Dare. Its seems like everyones dog is having lots of rest. Well at least its winter time. I think with Miley it was 4 months of strict rest when she had that same strain. We also did laser and heated ultrasound. When we found Mileys strain, I think it was last year, she wasnt lame either. No weave pole trouble. It was on full extention jumps that she dropped some bars. All the tight turns she kept the bars up. But dropping those bars on a novice course in practice, really got my attention. But after thinking back there were other things I should have noticed. Dogs are tough and its hard to seem some injuries. Dont beat yourself up on that one. Like you said, just move forward. (sorry about the photo shoot).

    • @Diana…I remember Miley had this. Was it 4 months or 4 weeks? I really and hoping that I won’t be having to go back and forth to Salt Lake for laser treatments for 4 mo. I don’t know if I could stand all that driving.

  2. Sorry about Dare’s strain – definitely hard to tell anything is wrong in a dog that doesn’t show signs. I hope she heals quickly!

  3. I hope Dare gets well soon. I am glad you didn’t show some photos of the suffering pet since they would surely make my heart sink in sympathy more.
