Maybe everyone’s kind thoughts worked, cause Zoe seems like she’s feeling more like her sassy self. I was joking around with a friend of mine that you know when her old boy and Zoe both are feeling good, cause they are such brats. They are bossy with the other dogs, and just honestly, a bit annoying. LOL I generally get irked when Zoe is hauling across the room to tell Penny off, or in my face begging rudely for food, but I was very happy to have her back to her old routines today.
I guess she won’t be sitting around in the house worrying about cd annuity rates tomorrow, she might feel like a getting out for a short walk instead.

Zoe’s Cold
Zoe and I agree on one thing. We hate being cold. The last week she’s not been acting like herself. She seemed to have hurt her shoulder a month or so ago. The vet said that he thought it was likely that it wasn’t a new injury. That she may have stretched or torn a ligament at some point in the past and that it just never completely healed. Zoe’s not one to let anything really slow her down, so I hadn’t seen anything till recently when she likely re-injured it.
On and off I’ve noticed her favoring that leg, but this week it seemed that it was worse and she just didn’t seem to feel very good in general. We went back to the vet again and again, nothing was really found, other than that slightly larger spacing in the shoulder joint that he thinks is the old injury. So, since I don’t want to admit that Zoe is getting older, I’m just going to blame her not feeling like her spunky self on the weather. LOL I know it sure doesn’t help my joints and it gives me hope that when spring and summer rolls around she’ll feel more like herself again.
In the meantime, I’m ordering some supplements for her, and I am going to try out an infrared light device that is supposed to help with soreness and pain. I didn’t buy any discount medical uniforms while I was shopping for Zoe, but if I thought it was the answer, I probably would have.
Guess Who?
Sometimes life is just funny. The only night was funny, not only in a humorous way, but in an ironic way too. I got a phone call from one of the volunteers with the all breed rescue here and she needed someone to post pictures of the dogs that she was taking to adoption. I agreed and she came by that evening.
As I started to import pictures and she started giving me descriptions to go along with them, I came to a picture of a Yellow Lab.
He looked pretty familiar to me, so I asked where he’d come from. He was owner relinquished to the local county animal shelter and they had transferred him into our program. You’ve probably already guessed…this is the dog that has been jumping over and digging under my kennel fence to get in to play with the boarders. I called the shelter the next day to confirm that it was indeed the dog that I’ve been dealing with. Sure enough, it’s him. The owners got sick of paying to get him out of the shelter, so they just decided to relinquish him this last time he was picked up.
It’s really a good thing all the way around I think. It’s not this dog’s fault that he had become such a nuisance to the neighborhood. His owners certainly weren’t a good match for him. It’s a relief to know that he’s going to have a chance to find another family that will be a better match now. I hope he’ll find a home that appreciates and can turn his natural athletic ability into an asset rather than a liability. Personally, I’m breathing a sigh of relief that I’m not going to look out the window and have an extra dog in the field.
It’s getting really cold here too, so it’s good to know that he’s not going to be out wandering in this weather. I am glad I can bundle up in my columbia jacket when I have to go outside for any reason.
