Layla Weaving

So, the snow melted off the grass again, and I decided that I’d get out my stick in the ground weave poles out while I could still pound them into the ground. Plus if they get snowed on, that’s fine.
I took Layla out to work on her weaving today. I am still using the grid guides right now. She is doing really well, I was pleased. I am trying to get her comfortable enough to weave regardless of where I am, so in the clips I am on both sides moving with her, and in another one I am behind her sending her into the weaves without me moving. In both clips she seems to be focusing ahead to the target rather than on me, so that’s good.
Let’s just hope this next storm on Saturday doesn’t bring much snow, and we can keep training!

She looks good. How old is she now? Is she the one that was lame? If it was she must be doing lot better that’s good.

Thanks Julie,
Layla is 15 mo. old now. Yes, she is the one that was lame. I hope whatever caused the lameness was a once in a lifetime thing. She seems just fine now.

Wow – Layla is weaving really well – and she’s so fast and eager to do it! You’re doing an awesome job with her!
Wow! First of all I can’t believe you can put a treat in the target dish and she doesn’t just scarf it down right then, she actually walks away from it with you! Katie would NEVER NEVER NEVER do that! Second, she looks WONDERFUL! And third, what a GREAT view you have of mountains!!

Thanks Ricky and Dawn. Layla is an eager student of just about anything. She just loves having something to do. As for her leaving the treat on the target lid…we work on “leave it” from the time they are pups. So, she’s pretty much got the idea down. Finally, yes, we do have a beautiful view from our house. The mountains are wonderful.
