Rogue Update 05-08-09

A couple of people have asked about how Rogue is doing since we let her go for an evaluation to our friends at Sheltie Rescue of Utah. So, here’s a brief update of what I know.

As of yesterday, she was beginning to settle in to the point that she was beginning to play with another one of the Shelties in the house. That’s good news! She’s being just a little tricky about trying to eat her treat without getting the pill inside, but they are experts at making sure that the dogs are getting their meds, so I’m sure that’s a temporary problem. They tell me that she is being a really good girl, and that she has been easy to have at the house. :-) I guess she’s like a shadow following Barbara around. (I kind of expected that). So, that’s about all I can update you on at this point. I know that she’s in very capable and caring hands!

  1. Rogue is such a funny little girl. She’s both blustering-brave and very wary at the same time. She is being no trouble at all here at Camp Sheltie and we love her antics. Unfortunately, she’s still fearful of me (which she was before Marie adopted her), but she will sloooooowly come close enough to me to take a treat from my hand (if it’s good enough, that is).

Marie visited yesterday (to take our new little Angel into foster care while Barbara and I are traveling for the next three weeks) and Rogue was obviously very happy to see her.

Rogue was very cuddly with Marie, while Layla raced around the room making friends with everybody and playing with our Abby. Of course, Layla first had to make sure that everybody knew that she is not to be messed with! When Marie left, Rogue exhibited her normal enthusiasm for going somewhere, but wasn’t depressed about it. Marie, on the other hand…

In all, Rogue is not proving to be a problem here in any significant way (well, except for it being nearly impossible for us to get her to take her pills), and we’re really enjoying her company.
