Training…what training?

I don’t know what has happened to our training routine around here this last couple of weeks, but ever since Zoe finished her MACH and Twist finished his CD, I’ve slacked off in training everybody. LOL I think that part of the problem is that we’ve worked so long to reach those goals, I haven’t really looked ahead to what we’d do when those were accomplished.
I just went to a convention this weekend and one of the talks was about setting and reaching goals. It suggested putting your short-term goals in writing. Then identify possible obstacles to reaching those goals that you can foresee. Finally, come up with practical ways that you can overcome these obstacles. It was also suggested that you talk about your goals with other people because they often can see things from a different perspective that may help you.
So…I think that my short-term goal for this week, will be to write down some goals that I’d like to work towards with each of the dogs. I have some things in mind for Raven and Twist, but I’m going to have to do some more thinking for Zoe and Rogue.

Writing things down is a great idea! Too bad you are not in SLC or I’d have Cyn talk you into checking out flyball as a new thing to do!!!

Christy,
Would be fun to be closer to SLC, it’s so much easier to get motivated to train and try new things when you have someone to do them with. Then again, there’s advantages to the rural life too!
Yeah – I am sure you have lots of open space to walk your dogs on!

Yeah lets play flyball!
It’s way fun. And a nice change. I am in the same boat as you, though… I haven’t done any training for a while now! I have obed this Thursday and Friday again though, so will be getting back into classes. I miss training. I do NOT miss trialing!

Yep Cyn, I miss the training, but not the trialing too! I’m looking forward to the CU Seminar though, should be really interesting.
You should let us know what your goals are with each dog. I have plenty of goals with Ace but haven’t written them down, so I’ll take your advice.
Lindsays last blog post..Weekly question: Have you ever given up a dog?
Lindsay,
I will post them for sure. I just seem to be a bit uninspired for ideas on what to work on next with Zoe and Rogue. I am really hoping that after we come back from the Control Unleashed seminar next weekend that I’ll have something more firmly in mind (for Rogue at least).
